Episode 6.
For those just joining, welcome to mad music Mondays, where I will be taking you on a journey through my creative process of releasing my first single. Last week’s episode is available here.
So, at this point I had a song. It was semi-recorded, semi-mixed, semi-produced. All over halfway done. But then what do you do?
Going further means admitting that you are going to finish this at some point. And how do you call your creative project finished? Finished doesn’t really exist, right?
In lots of ways, the answer is that it doesn’t. Finishing something is always going to be a choice.
I think I ‘chose’ to finish this at least 20 times. But one of those times, it stuck. And it wasn’t because I thought my work was perfect. It was because it wasn’t too terrible anymore, and I couldn’t face looking at it for another day.
Was I proud of it? In a way.
Would I love to change it? Of course.
But did I finish it, and share it? Yes. And that is what I’m the most proud of.
The song, ‘you should know’, is about that fleeting, uncomplicated moment of realising that you like someone. The brave among you will send it to your crush (whether or not they know).
If you number among those brave souls, please comment ‘challenge accepted’. Knowing that will bring me great joy.
